Saturday 14th April until Saturday 25th August 2018
Paintings from the Scottish hills by Douglas Gray.
The artist has been a wanderer in the Scottish hills since he was a teenager but it is only in the last few years that he has started to draw and paint them. Some of the works are portraits of places he loves while others take a satiric look at the conventions surrounding hill activities. He is very aware that the highland landscape is under increasing pressure from development with a huge increase in the number of hill goers in the last fifty years. The hills, that were once the last refuge of the individualist, are now part of the national tourist industry and some of his paintings take a humorous swipe at this.
